Wife Indicted for Murder of Husband in Alexandria
Wife faces life in prison after grand jury hands down 2-count indictment for husband's murder, Commonwealth Attorney for Alexandria says.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The Grand Jury for the City of Alexandria on Monday returned a two-count indictment against Paula Thompson-Marshall, related to the Oct. 5 murder of her husband, Rolf Marshall, in their shared residence on Duke Street in the Old Town South neighborhood of the City, Commonwealth's Attorney Bryan Porter announced.
Paula Thompson-Marshall, 47, was charged with a total of two felony counts: Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of Murder, Porter said.
Rolf Marshall. 75, was a longtime captain and maritime lawyer and died in the hospital after he was shot once on Wednesday morning, Oct. 5 at the couple's home. The couple lived in the 1100 block of Duke Street and neighbors reported to The Washington Post that they could often be heard arguing.

Thompson-Marshall's Facebook page says she was a spa director and is a native of Australia.
The charges will be tried before the Circuit Court for the City of Alexandria, Porter said in his announcement. The maximum penalty for First Degree Murder is life in prison. The maximum penalty for Use of a Firearm in the Commission of Murder is three years in prison, this sentence being a mandatory minimum sentence that cannot be suspended. Therefore, the total maximum penalty in this case is life plus three years, Porter pointed out.

A trial date has not yet been set in the matter.
