Wind Advisory Issued by National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory Monday for parts of the DC metro area including DC, the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church as well as Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun counties.

The Wind Advisory is in effect all day Monday until midnight. The strongest winds are expected to occur in two waves: One around midday and then again in the late afternoon through the evening, according to the weather service.
Winds are expected to reach 20 to 25 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH, the weather service announced.

The area could see scattered tree and power line damage and drivers could have difficulty driving "high profile" vehicles, the weather service warns.
Residents should take precautionary measures such as securing outdoor furniture and being extra careful when driving, the weather service advises.
