RESTON, VA — One person died and a second was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following an early morning crash in Reston on Monday.

Fairfax County Police responded to the report of a single-vehicle crash at North Shore Drive and Charter Oak Court, according to a 6:26 a.m. social media post.

A man who was driving the vehicle involved in the crash was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, according to police. A woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was also taken to the hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police closed Northpoint Drive between Charter Oak Court and Sycamore Valley Drive to allow Crash Reconstruction units to investigate the scene of the crash, according to police. The road was reopened around 9:20 a.m.
