2023 Reston Multicultural Festival Canceled Due To Tropical Storm

RESTON, VA — Organizers of the 2023 Reston Multicultural Festival have canceled the event due a possible tropical storm passing through Northern Virginia. No rescheduled date has been announced.

The heavy rain, high winds and cool temperatures are expected to begin around 11 p.m. on Friday and continue into Sunday morning.

The decision was made to cancel the event for the safety of the many artists, vendors, community organizations, event staff, and volunteers expected to travel to Reston Town Center on Saturday.

In the coming months, there will many opportunities for festival goers to enjoy diverse artistry through the 2023/2024 Professional Touring Artist Series at the CenterStage, according to the Reston Community Center.

Friday night's performance by Darden and Friends at 5:30 p.m. will go on as scheduled in the Pavilion at Reston Town Center. Attendees can also take advanced of the Sip 'n Stroll.

RCC and the Reston Town Center Association organized this year's Reston Multicultural Festival along with host EXP. In addition, the Reston Association provided volunteer support and organization.

"The event partners appreciate the understanding of the NEA Fellows and the support of the National Council for the Traditional Arts," RCC said in a release. "The partnership among these civic, nonprofit and business organizations allowed for the most ambitious Reston Multicultural Festival plan ever. All partners are looking forward to 2024 and doing it again under sunnier skies."
