71 Pounds Of Marijuana Found In TX Woman’s Bags At Dulles Airport: CBP
A Texas woman on her way to London was detained after customs officials found 71 pounds of marijuana in her luggage, authorities say.

DULLES, VA — A 30-year-old Texas woman on her way to London is facing multiple narcotics charges after customs officers found more than 71 pounds of marijuana in her checked baggage, according to authorities.
On. Nov. 22, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered vacuum-sealed bags containing marijuana inside two hard-sided suitcases among the baggage being loaded onto a London-bound flight leaving Washington Dulles International Airport, according to authorities. Using baggage tags, CBP officers were able to link the two suitcases to Du Li Park of The Colony, Texas.
The officers took Park and the two suitcases to a departure gate inspection station, where they extracted 60 vacuum-sealed bags containing a total 32.52 kilograms or 71 pounds and 11 ounces, of marijuana, according to CBP.

Although the street value of the marijuana in the U.S. was worth an estimated $300,000, it could fetch two to three times that amount in London, depending on its potency, according to CBP.
On Nov. 23, Metropolitan Washington Airport Authorities Police arrested Park, charging her with felony possession with intent to distribute, transporting controlled substances into the Commonwealth, and narcotics conspiracy, according to authorities.

“Bulk marijuana smuggling is illegal, and Customs and Border Protection will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to hold smugglers accountable,” said Marc E. Calixte, CBP’s area port director for the Area Port of Washington, D.C. “Travelers who gamble with their freedom by smuggling bulk amounts of marijuana for a little extra cash may find themselves on the losing end of that proposition.”
