Assistance League Offers Many Volunteer Opportunities
Multiple Programs Support Low Income Children

Schools are back in full swing, and Assistance League of Northern Virginia (ALNV) has launched into overdrive with its mission to meet the basic needs of children in the low-income schools we serve.
Along with packing 1900 bags of weekend food for kids, and providing new clothing and books to the children, we have been busy welcoming new members and meeting with the community through a volunteer fair.
On October 2, ALNV hosted an orientation and welcome coffee for our two newest members. It was a wonderful opportunity to explain the ins and outs of the organization and answer questions that our new members might have. We were also able to pair the volunteers’ strengths and talents with the programs and needs of our group.

The Springfield Town Center hosted a Venture into Volunteering Fair over the weekend and ALNV volunteers were able to meet with community members who were interested in finding out more about Assistance League and its mission. Our volunteers enjoyed spreading the word about our Operation School Bell programs and the fun we have supporting the children in our community. Who knows? We might see some of these people at an upcoming meeting or event.
