Courtney's Closet Offers Consignment Finds
Women can find designer clothes and accessories at a discount at Herndon's newest shop.
There is a new spot for women's fashion in Herndon, and customers will also be giving back to the commnunity when they purchase.
Courtney's Closet recently opened at Herndon Centre - 396 Elden St. next to MOM's Organic Market. Owner DeAnn DuVall has partnered to help local nonprofits Jill's House and V.I.E.W. (Virginia Initiative for Employment, not Welfare).
The store carries recycled designer and top brand-name fashions at a discount. The store only carries the best items that are in excellent condition, so women know there will be good finds each and every time they shop, says DeVall.

As a consignment store, items are only carried in the store for 90 days, Duvall says. The store and seller split the proceeds 50/50.
At Courtney's Closet, any consignment items that do not sell within 90 days are automatically donated to charity, unless the seller makes a special request to reclaim an item priced at $25 or more.

In addition, Courtney's Closet offers consignment accounts to sellers in which they can earmark 100 percent of their share of the proceeds from an item that sells, to go to Jill's House. DuVall said, once a month she writes a check to Jill's House on behalf of sellers who offer to donate their shares, in their names.
“We support giving back to the community.” said Duvall. "Being able to open our doors and provide service to a community we love, and give back at the same time, is important to us.”
Jill's House offers short-term stays and respite for children with special needs, to give their families much-needed breaks from the often-stressful, 24/7 care of their children.
VIEW provides job readiness, job search, and job development/placement services to mandated recipients of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
Courtney’s Closet is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The store is closed on Mondays.
