RESTON, VA — It’s that time of year again. As the weather gets colder, Cornerstones and the office of Hunter Mill District Supervisor Walter Alcorn are collecting winter coats, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves to distribute free of charge to those in the community who need them.

Hunter Mill District Winter Coat Closet is accepting new and gently used, clean winter coats, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves. Items can be dropped off Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., through Nov. 8, at Cornerstones’ Main Office, which is located at 11150 Sunset Hills Road, Suite 210 in Reston.

Donations of children’s coats (newborn through teen sizes) and very large men’s and women’s coats (sizes 2XL and larger) are especially appreciated. In addition, Cornerstones is accepting donations of plastic clothes hangers. No wire hangers will be accepted.
