Fairfax Co. Government Alters Tuesday Schedule Due To Storm

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Government offices will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a post on the county’s website.

“Emergency personnel should report as scheduled. Employees not designated as emergency personnel should code emergency administrative leave from the start of their scheduled work time until the county opens, at which time the employee can report to their work location, telework, if eligible; orse unscheduled leave (personal or annual leave or leave).”

  • Closed: All public library branches.
  • Closed: Most Neighborhood and Community Services facilities, including NCS community centers, senior centers, teen centers and adult day health care centers, with the exception of:
  • •Open: Jim Scott (formerly Providence) Community Center, Lewinsville Senior Center & Lewinsville Adult Day Health Care Center.
  • Open: Rec Centers and other Park Authority facilities, although some programming is affected.
  • Closed: Courts•
  • Closed: McLean Community Center
  • Open: Reston Community Center

Fairfax Connector will be operaterating on Sunday Service on Tuesday. Passengers can expect planned snow detours due to road conditions.

On Monday afternoon, Fairfax County Public Schools made a decision about whether or not to extend students’ winter break by another day and close on Tuesday.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 1 a.m. Tuesday throughout Northern Virginia and other parts of the region. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 10 inches are predicted, but isolated areas could get up to 12 inches if heavy banding forms, according to the National Weather Service. A trace of ice is forecast with the snow.
