Frozen Dumplings Sold In VA Recalled By Maker: USDA

HYATTSVILLE, MD — A Maryland-based company recalled 1,560 pounds of frozen dumplings this week because they were made and shipped to retailers across Virginia without proper inspection, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Mulan Dumpling LLC of Hyattsville recalled the following items produced between Feb. 20 and June 26:

• 8-oz. plastic bag packages containing 10 pieces of “Mulan Dumpling Pork & Cabbage Dumplings."
• 8-oz. plastic bag packages containing 10 pieces of “Mulan Dumpling Curry Seasoned Chicken Dumplings."
• 8-oz. plastic bag packages containing 10 pieces of “Mulan Dumpling Shrimp & Chives Dumplings” containing pork.

While the products bear USDA marks of inspection, officials said the dumplings were produced in a facility that had not been inspected by the Food Safety and Inspection Service, according to the recall.

The products were shipped to retailers in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., according to the alert.

So far, officials have received no reports of adverse reactions or illnesses linked to the dumplings.

Anyone who purchased the dumplings should not eat them, officials said. Consumers should throw away or return the dumplings to their place of purchase.
