Gently Used, Clean Winter Coats For Children Needed: Donate

Supervisor Walter Alcorn (D-Hunter Mill) is partnering with Heritage Fellowship Church in Reston to sponsor a children's winter coat drive.

RESTON, VA — At its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved a motion by Supervisor Walter Alcorn (D-Hunter Mill) announcing a children’s coat drive his office is sponsoring in partnership with Heritage Fellowship Church in Reston.

"I invite our community to donate new or gently used, clean winter coats for kids," Alcorn said. "Coats and jackets in all children’s sizes are needed from newborns to teens, but there’s also a high demand for coats for elementary and middle school children. We’re also seeking accompanying donations of children’s-sized plastic coat hangers, and reusable shopping bags and totes that will be used to transport and distribute coats."

The Hunter Mill supervisor's office will be acceptiong donations through February 2026, at the North County Governmental Center at 1801 Cameron Glen Drive in Reston, on Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. or by appointment. Due to space limitations, the office is only accepting coats and jackets this year.

"Last year, we distributed more than 1,000 coats, demonstrating the great need for this coat drive. I encourage our community to give the gift of warmth again this year."
