Man Dies in Potomac River Near Great Falls

A young man in his late teens or early 20s died in the Potomac River near Riverbend Park in Great Falls on Friday, Montgomery County police have confirmed to the Associated Press.

"Police say the man apparently entered the water south of Riverbend Park and waded to the middle of the river, where he became trapped," the AP reported.

No foul play is suspected.

The Washington Post reports that this stretch of the Potomac River is "particularly deadly," but that deaths near this spot have declined in recent years.
