Principal Shane Wolfe Of Reston's Aldrin ES Recognized By VA PTA
Principal Shane Wolfe of Aldrin Elementary received the VA PTA Principal Partner of the Year at the group's recent annual meeting.

RESTON, VA — Principal Shane Wolfe of Buzz Aldrin Elementary School in Reston received the VA PTA Principal Partner of the Year award during the group's annual meeting on May 18 in Richmond.
Earlier in May, the Fairfax County Council recognized Wolfe for his collaborative approach that increased parent engagement and formed a stronger bond within the school community. The council recommended Wolfe to VA PTA as a candidate for its Principal Partner of the Year award.
"From hosting ice cream socials to Cultural and Heritage Nights, Book Fairs, Family Reading Nights, Career Day, and Bingo, Principal Wolfe's warm and welcoming attitude has re-engaged families in school activities," VA PTA said, in a release. In addition, the Aldrin Reads initiative has fostered a love of reading among students.

Nearly all of Wolfe's administrative career has been spent in the Reston/Herndon area, according to VA PTA. He started out as an assistant principal at both Terraset and Armstrong elementary schools.
After serving as Armstrong's principal for six years, he was appointed principal at Bailey’s Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences in Falls Church. He then returned to the Reston area in 2012 as the new principal at Aldrin Elementary.

Wolfe has received numerous awards over his career, including:
- The Nancy F. Sprague Leadership Award, Commendation for Excellence, Outstanding First Year Principal
- The 2012 Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals Virginia School Bell Award
- Virginia House of Delegates and Senate, Joint Resolution 153 in 2012 for unwavering commitment to the children of The Commonwealth of Virginia
