New Reston Association Board Officers Elected

RESTON, VA — During its initial meeting on Wednesday night, the Reston Association Board of Directors elected a new slate of officers to lead the association for the 2025-2026 term.

The newly elected officers are Travis Johnson (Hunters Woods/Dogwood District) as president, Izzy Santa (At-Large) as vice-president, Michael Lanza (North Point) as secretary, and Matthew Mullenix (At-Large) as treasurer.

“I have an affirmative vision for Reston,” said Johnson, who was sole nominee for president. “I want to create an efficient, positive and healthy environment ... and build closer ties with communities not currently part of RA to create a One Reston mindset.”

The vote took place at the start of the new board’s initial meeting on Wednesday night. Outgoing president Jalar Mapar (At-Large) presided over the election of the new president and handed over control of the meeting to Johnson, once the votes were tallied.

Earlier in the meeting, Mapar thanked the board for allowing him to serve as president.

“It's a highlight of my life, my career, if you will, and I am feeling good,” he said. “Believe it or not, I value community service, and I've enjoyed doing that, and it's been great, up and down, but it's been fantastic. It's been a good learning experience.”

At the RA annual meeting on Tuesday, both Mullenix (At-Large) and Lanza (North Point) officially joined the board after the results of the March board election were revealed.
