One of the owners of Reston-based Nordic Knot Scandinavian Pretzels recently appeared on "The Blox: The Greatest Show On Entrepreneurship."

RESTON, VA — Melissa Romano, co-owner of Nordic Knot Scandinavian Pretzels and Lake Anne Brew House in Reston, was recently featured on "The Blox: The Greatest Show On Entrepreneurship."
Romano was one of the season 17 cast members on the self-proclaimed “Largest Competition TV Show On The Planet For Startups.” All eight episodes from season 17 are available to view on BetaBlox, Prime, and Facebook.
“The Blox is a competition show about entrepreneurship,” according to the show's website. “Businesses from across the country were chosen to compete in a week-long intensive bootcamp designed to take their companies to the next level. The entrepreneurs are ranked from first to last in real time, with the top three wearing the red jerseys. Their scores from each game accumulate daily, culminating in The Best Startup On The Blox.”

Romano and co-owner Eric Lundberg launched Nordic Knot as a business in 2017, delivering a single pretzel in a brown paper bag to its customers’ doorsteps. Since then, the company has quadrupled its production facility and is baking thousands of pretzels every day, which are delivered to a variety of venues, including Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts and Capital One baseball stadium, as well breweries, cafes and restaurants.
“Nordic Knot was born from a love of pretzels and as a way of twisting together friends, families and a community,” Romano said, in her introductory video for The Blox. “Our goal is to eventually distribute them globally.”

Romano recently announced that Lake Anne Brew House had acquired the neighboring space formerly occupied by Chesapeake Chocolates in order to expand its taproom and bar space.
"Hopefully we'll be able to double our seating capacity between interior space and expanded exterior space. That's dependent on the plaza's willingness to expand our outdoor seating, as well," she said. "We look forward to being able to have a more welcoming tap room and a nicer, bigger bar."
