Reston Man Arrested On Consecutive Nights In Fairfax City: Police
City of Fairfax police arrested the same man from Reston on successive nights over the weekend, according to authorities.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 59-year-old Reston man faces multiple charges after he was arrested twice over the weekend by City of Fairfax police, according to authorities.
On Friday, officers responded just before 9 p.m. to the 7-Eleven at 3910 University Drive to investigate the report of someone acting disorderly inside the business, according to the incident report.
The victim told police that a man had entered the store, acted disorderly and then threw an object at them before leaving, police say. The victim was uninjured.

The officers found the suspect nearby, whom they later identified as Mesfin Tadesse of Reston. During their investigation, the officers reported that Tadesse appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The victim chose not to prosecute Tadesse for assault.
Tadesse was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with drunk in public, according to the report. He was then held until deemed sober and released on his own recognizance.

Around 9:55 p.m., on Saturday, officers were dispatched to the Walgreens at 10320 Main St. in Fairfax City for the report of a larceny.
"The reporting party stated that an unknown male entered the business, took multiple items, and left the business without rendering payment," according to the report. "Officers located the subject nearby."
The suspect turned out to be Tadesse, who police said appeared to be intoxicated. They took him to the ADC and charged with drunk in public and petit larceny, the report says. He was then held without bond.
Tadesse's preliminary hearing in for the first public intoxication charge is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., on Jan. 15, 2026 in Fairfax County General District Court, according to court records.
On Monday morning, Tadesse appeared in Fairfax County General District Court, where he was arraigned on the other two charges, according to court records. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 17, 2026.
The two public intoxication charges are Class 4 misdemeanors, which carry a maximum penalty of a $250 fine, with no jail time, under the Code of Virginia.
If convicted on the larceny charge, which is a Class 1 misdemeanor, Tadesse could face a sentence of up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500, according to Virginia law.
