Reston School Calendar For 2025-2026: Key Dates To Know
As the summer wraps up, here are the dates Reston students and parents should know for the new school year.
RESTON, VA — Summer will soon wrap up for students around Reston. The first day of school in Fairfax County Public Schools is Monday, Aug. 18.
One new update for the school year is that the weapons detection program will be expanded to Fairfax County middle schools. FCPS launched the weapons screening as a pilot program in the spring, with rotating high school and secondary school locations using the weapons screening technology.
Superintendent Michelle Reid said the weapons screening will be expanded to all high schools and middle schools in the fall. More details will be provided by FCPS closer to the school year.

Certain immunizations are required for entry into select grades. Families can find other updates by ensuring they are signed up for a newsletter from FCPS or their specific school.
