Severe Weather Returns To VA Forecast: See Latest Timeline For Storms
DC, Northern Virginia will see showers Wednesday, with a chance of severe storms, some weather predictions say. Check the latest forecast.
VIRGINIA — The potential for severe weather returns to the forecast for DC and Northern Virginia midweek as meteorologists monitor a system moving across the Great Lakes that is expected to pass over the Washington, D.C., region on Wednesday.
The Juneteenth holiday weekend will start off stormy on Friday, followed by great beach weather Saturday and Sunday, and then see a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms again on Monday.
The National Weather Service said there is a 40 percent chance of precipitation in the Baltimore region on Wednesday.

Eastern Pennsylvania and much of New Jersey, eastern New York and southwestern and central New England will be at risk of the strongest storms Wednesday afternoon, AccuWeather reports. The same storm will bring soaking rain or sporadic drenching showers to the central and northern Appalachians from Wednesday into Wednesday night.
A second storm is likely to stall over the Northeast from Friday to Saturday, leading to more rounds of showers and thunderstorms — along with clouds and unseasonably cool temperatures — from the Appalachians to near the Atlantic coast, AccuWeather said.

Close to half the state is "abnormally dry" according to the most recent U.S. Drought Monitor report, with parts of Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties under moderate drought conditions.

Tuesday Night: Isolated showers after 2am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 58. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Wednesday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Southwest wind 8 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 57. West wind 6 to 11 mph.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 83. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph.
Thursday Night: A chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. Northwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Friday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
