RESTON, VA — Weekly sunset concerts will be returning to Lake Anne Plaza this summer, thanks to a new agreement signed by the Lake Anne of Reston, A Condominium board of directors and the Reston Community Center.

The weekly Sunset Concerts at Lake Anne Plaza will debut Wednesday, June 12, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and run every Wednesday evening through Aug. 14.

In addition, RCC has agreed to become an annual Community Sponsor for Reston nonprofit organizations’ events that take place on Lake Anne Plaza and are licensed to be presented there by LARCA. The sponsorships will provide funding that will allow LARCA to waive any use fees for all Reston nonprofits that are licensed to have events on the plaza. RCC will also have its use fees waived for its concert series.

This year will see two of these sponsorships executed. The first RCC Community Sponsorship of $12,000 will cover plaza events during May and June. Then, when the new fiscal year begins on July 1, a $50,000 sponsorship will go into effect, covering plaza events all the way to June 30, 2025.

“We are delighted to bring a high-quality variety of musical styles to Lake Anne again,” said RCC Board Chair Beverly Cosham. “Lake Anne Plaza is where RCC’s summer concert series began. As we’ve branched out to some of Reston’s newest neighborhoods, it’s sweet to be back where we started in 2024.”

This summer will be the first time since 2019 that there will be weekly RCC concerts on Lake Anne Plaza. Concerts were first halted due to the pandemic. Then, the LARCA Board and RCC couldn't reach an agreement, which led to RCC moving the summer concert series to Reston Station in 2022.

RCC's Take a Break Thursday evening concerts are moving to Halley Rise this summer. Also, its Fab Fridays will be at the Wiehle Ave/Reston Station Plaza. RCC also has three concert series at Reston Town Square Park.

LARCA President George Hadjikyriakou welcomed RCC's new sponsorship to help support licensed events put on by the community's nonprofit organizations.

“We are happy to host RCC-funded Reston area organized events on our property for the enjoyment of the greater Reston community, while at the same time ensuring the maintenance, cleaning, and insuring costs are not borne by the association,” he said. “We look forward to the continued partnership as it benefits everyone.” LARCA and RCC will be welcoming audiences to the kickoff concert on June 12, with a performance by the Mystic Warriors who are a longtime favorite of Lake Anne audiences."
