RESTON, VA — Radhika Murari, owner of the OmBaked CBD Boutique in Reston, recently launched the Virginia Liberal-Owned Business Group on Facebook, as a place where members can identify and support businesses that share their values.

“As conservatives escalate their attacks — both verbal and physical — on progressive voices, we refuse to sit back in silence,” Murari said. “Instead, we are channeling our energy into economic empowerment. By intentionally supporting liberal-owned businesses, we can create a resilient network that thrives despite the hostility we face."

Murari, owner of the OmBaked CBD Boutique in Reston, has experienced some of the anti-liberal hostility first-hand at her CBD store at Lake Anne Plaza.

"During this election cycle, I had people barge into OmBaked and yell at me,” she said. “They called me an illegal alien, told me to go back where I came from, and even told me to thank them for paying for me to live in the US.”

The Facebook group also seeks to strengthen a progressive economy by encouraging consumers to support businesses that champion human rights, sustainability, and social justice, according to Murari.

"Every dollar we spend is a vote for the kind of world we want to live in. If right-wing extremists think they can intimidate us into silence, they’re wrong - we’re fighting back with community and commerce," she said.

The Virginia Liberal-Owned Business Group is open to business owners and consumers who wish to align their spending with their liberal principles, according to Murari. Visit the Facebook group to sign up and learn more about the initiative.
