Fairfax County Board Supervisor and Reston representative Cathy Hudgins has announced a meeting to discuss amendments that would change current zoning ordinance limits in certain areas to allow for a greater density of people per acre, accommodating future development in Reston. Fairfax County updated the Comprehensive Plan for Reston in 2014 and 2015 to call for future growth to be focused around three nearby Metro stations.

The top brass at Boston Properties is well aware of the controversy over paid parking at Reston Town Center, and while they aren't backing down yet, a BXP executive said during Wednesday's quarterly earnings call they are "continuing to evaluate our execution" of ParkRTC. BXP held its quarterly earnings call on Wednesday morning for the first quarter of 2017, when it reported a 9 percent drop in profits compared to the same period last year.

New Vienna Bookstore to Host Scavenger Hunt Around Town

Vienna's soon-to-be bookstore Bards Alley will not be open in time for National Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday, April 29, but it will get the community involved in the festivities. The bookstore is hosting a free scavenger hunt around town on Saturday for book worms of all ages. Participants can find books around town wrapped in brown paper with Bards Alley stickers.

Reston Man Invents Baby Device, Raises $13K on Kickstarter

Tim Causa, who was featured in a recent issue of Northern Virginia Magazine, was bottle-feeding his son Jack shortly before 3 a.m. back in 2015 when he came up with an idea that would allow him to browse the web or catch up on work on his phone without worrying about the bright phone making it difficult for his son to get back to sleep. The first shipment was sent out in January, and he's gotten orders from Ireland, Canada and Australia.

Abduction Attempt Reported in Old Town Alexandria

Alexandria police are investigating an attempted abduction at the 400 block of South Union Street in Old Town Alexandria. The incident took place Tuesday, April 25, and according to police, an adult woman reported that a man grabbed her and attempted to get her into a car. The victim was not injured.
