Want to Be on the Reston Association Board? At-Large Spot Needs To Be Filled
Rostant's departure leaves second RA board seat unexpectedly vacant this year.

Want to serve on the Reston Association Board of Directors? There is a vacant at-large spot that needs to be filled, and RA is inviting interested members to submit a Statement of Candidacy to the board secretary or assistant secretary no later than Oct. 21.
The seat was vacated last week by Donna Miller Rostant after the board voted against adding her home to the association.
Rostant moved to a new Reston house on Chessington Lane last May. Chessington is not in RA boundaries, but could have been added under RA bylaws. RA rules state directors must live in RA boundaries.

However, Rostant wanted a limited term for the addition, and that caveat caused enough "no" votes for the request to be denied.
The vacant seat term ends in April 2015.

"Donna will be missed and we are fortunate to have had her strength of character and leadership," Acting CEO Cate Fulkerson said in a statement.
All qualified candidates will meet with the full board at its regularly scheduled meeting on Oct. 24 for a discussion of the candidates' interests and qualifications. This is the second time this year the board has had to fill a vacated seat prior to a term expiring. The board appointedEllen Graves, to fill the vacant Hunters Woods/Dogwood District seat in June after director Cheryl Beamer resigned with a year left to go in her term.
