Youngkin Appoints RA CEO Mac Cummins To VA Regulatory Board

Reston, VA - Reston Association Chief Executive Officer Mac Cummins has been appointed by the Governor of Virginia to the Virginia Common Interest Community (CIC) Board, a state regulatory body responsible for overseeing the governance and operations of common interest communities throughout the Commonwealth.

The CIC Board, established in 2008 and housed under Virginia’s Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR), is composed of 11 members representing community managers, developers, legal and financial professionals, the timeshare industry and citizen members.

“It’s a privilege to be selected for this role and to help strengthen accountability and
professionalism across Virginia’s community associations,” said Cummins. “As the CEO of the largest common interest community in the Commonwealth, I look forward to contributing to the board’s efforts in protecting residents and improving transparency in community management.”

The CIC Board oversees regulatory programs including licensure of community management firms, certification of individual managers, enforcement of compliance standards, and administration of protective funds for associations. It also plays a key role in implementing reforms such as the 2023 Virginia Resale Disclosure Act, aimed at streamlining and clarifying resale processes for homeowners.

Cummins has led Reston Association since 2022 and has a strong background in urban planning and public sector leadership. Under his direction, Reston Association continues to be recognized as a model for large-scale community management and civic engagement.
