Vienna Banker Reports Assault By Customer for Taking Too Long to Complete Transaction: Police

VIENNA, VA -- Police say that a customer got irate while waiting for service at the Wells Fargo Bank last week in Vienna.

An employee of the bank called police to report what he called an assault by a customer of the bank, according to police. The incident took place Monday afternoon at about 4:52 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Bank at 212 Maple Ave. East, police said.

The male employee stated he was assaulted by a male customer of the bank because he was taking too long to complete the male customer’s transaction, police said. A witness to the incident said there was a verbal argument, but they didn’t observe an assault occur, according to police. The employee of the bank was advised of the warrant process.

  • Arrest - Warrant Service 16-006502: 600 Block Hillcrest Drive, SW, July 29 8:48 a.m. Ofc. Sterling responded to the listed area for a warrant service. When he arrived he located a juvenile male subject who had an active detention order. Ofc. Sterling took the juvenile subject into custody and transported him to the Fairfax County Juvenile Intake.
  • Arrest – Warrant Service 16-006503: 400 Block Dominion Road, SE July 29 9:37 a.m. MPO Nelson was patrolling the listed area when he located a juvenile male subject who had an active detention order. MPO Nelson took the juvenile subject into custody and transported him to the Fairfax County Juvenile Intake.
  • Fraud 16-006507: 100 Block Patrick Street, SE July 29 12:07 p.m. A resident called to report they were a victim of fraud. They stated they sent money to an individual who was in another country. The individual claimed to be able to provide the resident with education certificates.
  • Service 16-006514: BB&T Bank, 415 Maple Avenue, West July 29 6:29 p.m. A bank employee requested an officer check on the welfare of an elderly male subject. MPO Lyons met with the male subject and determined the case needed to be further investigated by Adult Protective Services.
  • Arrest – Warrant Service 16-006525: Ayr Hill Avenue and Mill Street, NE, July 30 1:37 a.m. Ofc. Reedy observed a vehicle make a traffic infraction. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle he determined the driver had a suspended driving status in Pennsylvania and an active warrant in Virginia. The 21 year old male driver from S Glebe Road, Arlington was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. While at the magistrates office he was also issued two summonses by Ofc. Reedy for speeding and no operator’s license.
  • Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated 16-006526: 300 Block Maple Avenue, East July 30 5:07 a.m. Ofc. Post observed a vehicle make a traffic infraction. She conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and when she spoke with the driver she detected signs of possible impairment. The driver of the vehicle was offered standard field sobriety tests, which they failed. The driver was transported to the Vienna Police Department for an official breath test. The 20 year old male driver from Centreville Road, Manassas was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and held on an unsecured bond.
  • Fraud 16-006538: 900 Block Timber Lane, SE July 30 11:48 a.m. A resident reported they were a victim of fraud. The resident stated someone used their social security number to fraudulently open a credit card account. The resident also stated they were a victim of the Office of Personal Management hacking in July of 2014.
  • Assault 16-006542: 700 Block Kingsley Road, SW, July 30 1:51 p.m. A resident called to report someone was attempting to stab them; they then ended communication with Vienna Police Department Dispatch Center. Officers arrived at the listed location and located 2 male subjects and 2 female subjects who appeared to be in a verbal argument. Officers spoke with all 4 subjects, independent of each other, and determined no physical or threat of physical assault took place. All 4 subjects were advised of the warrant process.
  • Domestic Assault 16-006549: Peking Express 103 Center Street, North July 30 6:16 p.m. A female citizen called to report she and her wife got in to a verbal argument, which then turned physical. The female subject who reported the incident stated she and her wife were having an argument when her wife slapped her across her face. MPO Lyons was unable to observe any signs of an assault. The female subject reporting the event was advised of the warrant process and provided counseling services.
  • Noise Violation 16-006567: 400 Block Holmes Drive, NW, July 31 9:33 a.m. A citizen called to report construction noise in violation of the Town of Vienna noise ordinance. When MPO Nelson arrived he observed a male subject working on a residence. After checking the premise history MPO Nelson determined the male subject had not been warned before. The male subject was warned by MPO Nelson about the Town of Vienna Noise ordinance.
  • Arrest – Narcotics Violation 16-006575: 200 Block Elmar Drive, SE, July 31 3:57 p.m. Sgt. Sheeran observed a vehicle make a traffic infraction. He conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and as he spoke to the driver he could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a measureable amount of marijuana inside a purse located on the floor board of the front passenger’s seat. The 18 year old female driver from Shepherdson Lane, Vienna and the 18 year old female passenger of Mid South Road, Wise, Virginia were issued summons for possession of marijuana. Both subjects were released on their signature
  • Animal Case 16-006578: 500 Block Kingsley Road, SW, July 31 6:41 p.m.: While investigating an accident scene Ofc. Hylinski observed what he believed to be a dog that was not being properly cared for. He was unable to establish ownership of the dog. ACO Barker will be following up on the case in an attempt to determine the owner and health of the dog.
  • Domestic Assault 16-006579: Glyndon Street, SE, July 31 7:25 p.m. Officers responded to the listed area for a domestic assault between a mother and daughter. When officers arrived they spoke with the daughter who told officers she was only in a verbal argument with her mother. She stated the argument was over their current living situation. Officers then spoke with the mother who stated she was arguing with her daughter about items she found in her daughters room. She stated her daughter became angry and pushed her. Officers did not observe any injuries to either party. Both the mother and daughter were advised of the warrant process and provided with counseling services.
  • Property Found 16-006584: 212 Cedar Lane, SE, August 1 9:27 a.m. A maintenance worker found suspected narcotics in the listed area. MPO Bailey took possession of the narcotics for destruction.
  • Fraud 16-006591: Tequila Grande Restaurant, 444 Maple Avenue, West, August 1 5:19 p.m. The manager of the listed restaurant called to report a fraud that occurred in April of 2016. The manager stated a male subject came into the restaurant and fraudulently used a credit card.
  • Animal Case 16-006593: 100 Block Wolftrap Road, SE, August 1 1:27 p.m. A citizen called to report they found a dog at large. The dog was implanted with a chip, but MPO Lose was unable to speak with anyone from the chip company to get contact information. The dog was transported to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
  • Arrest – Warrant Service 16-006594: County Transmissions, 320 Dominion Road, NE August 1 2:24 p.m. Prince William County Police Department requested officers to locate a wanted male subject from their jurisdiction. Sgt. Elias and Ofc. Slebonick located the male subject and took him in to custody. The 28 year old male subject from Manassas, Virginia was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where warrants for assault and failure to appear were served.
  • Fraud 16-006629: 300 Block Jean Place, NE, July 25 4:26 p.m. A resident came to Vienna Police Department to report they were a victim of fraud. They stated a subject called them representing themselves as an agent of the IRS. The subject told the resident they would be arrested unless they made an immediate payment. The resident made the payment and soon realized he had been a victim of fraud.
  • Fraud 16-006640: Cedar Lane, SE, August 2 2:48 p.m. A resident came to the Vienna Police Department to report they were a victim of fraud. The resident stated they were informed by their credit card company someone was using their credit card fraudulently.
  • Suspicious Event 16-006641: 300 Block Tapawingo Road, SE, August 2 8:21 p.m. A resident called to report an incident involving their neighbor. The resident stated their neighbor was disrupting recently drawn property lines.
  • Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated 16-006644: Nutley Street and Kingsley Road, SW August 2 9:52 p.m. Ofc. Reedy observed a vehicle make a traffic infraction. He conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and during the course of speaking with the driver it was determined the driver had an active warrant. Ofc. Reedy asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and as the driver did so Ofc. Reedy observed signs of possible impairment. The driver was offered standard field sobriety tests, which they failed. The driver was transported to Vienna Police Department for an official breath test. The 49 year old male driver from Calvert Court, Fort Washington, Virginia was arrested for an outstanding failure to appear warrant, felony driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with an open container, and operating a motor vehicle while suspended. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and held on a secure bond.
  • Service 16-006646: Wolftrap Hotel, 430 Maple Avenue, West, August 2 11:17 p.m. Officers responded to the listed area for a possible domestic assault. When they arrived they spoke with a male and female subject. After speaking with both individuals it was determined that no crime occurred in Vienna.
  • Assist Fire EMS 16-006647: Wolftrap Hotel: 430 Maple Avenue, West, August 3 2:08 a.m. Officers responded to the listed address to assist Fairfax County Fire & EMS with an elderly female subject. The subject was transported by Fairfax County EMS to the hospital.
  • Assist Fire & EMS 16-006651: 400 Block Welles Street, SE, August 3 9:54 a.m.
  • Officers responded to assist Fairfax County Fire & EMS with an unresponsive elderly female subject. The subject was transported by Fairfax County EMS to the hospital in a life threatening condition.
  • Civil 16-006676: 100 Block Nutley Street, SW, August 4 1:14 p.m. A citizen called to report their vehicle was struck by a rock while driving. The rock caused damage to the vehicle. The citizen stated the rock came from another moving vehicle. The citizen was informed the incident was civil in nature.
  • Service 16-006687: 200 Block Manvell Road, SE, August 4 9:00 p.m. Ofc. Post responded to the listed area to serve a protective order on a male subject.
  • Arrest – Drunk In Public 16-006693: Park Terrace Court, SE, August 5 1:40 a.m. Officers responded to the listed area for a suspicious person. When they arrived they determined there was an argument occurring between a male and female subject. The male subject stated the female subject entered his residence and began arguing with him about a male subject he had been hanging out with. There was pushing and shoving during the verbal argument. While speaking with the female subject Ofc. Post detected signs of possible impairment. The 27 year old female subject from Cavalier Landing Court, Fairfax was arrested for drunk in public. She was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. All parties were advised of the warrant process.
