Cause of Dumping Area Blaze Unknown

No injuries in apartment complex's recycling unit fire

Fairfax County fire officials are investigating the cause of a noontime blaze in the open-air recycling area of the Arrowood Parc apartment complex, a fire that took down the limbs of surrounding oak trees and singed part of the fence that separates it from the neighboring Mosby's Landing townhouses.

There were no injuries in the fire, Capt. Sam DeVera said, though it's still not clear what caused the blaze.

A unit from the Vienna Fire Department responded to the call just after noon and put out the fire from the parking lot of Mosby's Landing, which borders the apartment complex on Chain Bridge Road. The dumping area was in the far corner of Arrowood Parc's lot, which borders on the other side.

"Thankfully, [the things that caught fire] aren't things that people still want," DeVera said.
