Power was restored at about 2 a.m. Monday.

The tree toppled on a sunny summer day from the south side of Moore to the north side, completely blocking the street. Moore Avenue is the detour for Park Street, which is closed from Moore to Maple, so there is much more traffic there now.

Fortunately the tall tree, which looked to be at least 60 feet tall, did not hit any houses, cars or pedestrians, but came crashing down on a fence. It took down power lines, causing the power outage to 52 households.

Town of Vienna crews managed to cut up and remove the trunk in the street. Moore Avenue between Park and Cottage streets remained closed while Dominion Power worked to restore power to customers.
