VIENNA, VA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Alex plays year round competitive club soccer, as well as playing soccer and lacrosse for her high school teams. She is a dedicated team player on the field, consistently demonstrating determination, leadership and a positive fun outlook that draws in her teammates. These same characteristics are exemplified off the field both in her academic studies, where she excels across her Honors classes, and socially among many friends, where her positive, fun, and kind energy sparks joy. Alex finds time to dedicate service hours to the community and last year was recognized at school with a “Making a Difference” award. We, her parents, are proud of the well rounded athlete and person that she is!

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Alex has a keen sense of fairness both on and off the field, and a flair for bringing joy and fun in all that she does. She is a loyal friend and teammate!
