Bank Robbery Suspect Leaves Suspicious Package Behind, Ties Up Traffic
Police using K9s and helicopter apprehended a suspect in bank robbery Tuesday afternoon on Gallows Road.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A bank robbery suspect tangled up traffic for hours Tuesday when he left behind a suspicious package after he fled from the Wells Fargo Bank at 2903 Gallows Road, according to Fairfax County Police.
Gallows Road was closed in both directions for from about 4 to 7:30 p.m. while police investigated the package.
A description of the bank robbery suspect was broadcast and a suspect was located and taken into custody in the 2200 block of Gallows Road. K9 and the police helicopter (Fairfax 1) assisted in the search.

The Explosives Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) responded to the scene to check the package related to the robbery. Detectives from the Major Crimes Division and Crime Scene technicians also responded to the scene.
Police were directing traffic on Gallows Road in both directions Tuesday afternoon and evening.
