Presidents Day, which Virginia also recognizes as George Washington's Birthday, will result in schedule changes around Vienna.

VIENNA, VA — The Presidents Day holiday, which is also called George Washington's Birthday in the first president's home state of Virginia, will result in closures and schedule changes in Vienna.

The holiday falls on Monday, Feb. 17, resulting in a three-day weekend for many employees and students. Town of Vienna and Fairfax County government offices will be closed, and some other services will be closed or adjusted for the holiday.

In Fairfax County, George Washington's Mount Vernon is hosting the sold-out George Washington Birthnight Supper & Ball on Feb. 16 and a free admission day on Feb. 17.

Another event is Alexandria's George Washington Birthday Parade, which honors the first president in his adopted hometown. The parade starts at 11 a.m. Saturday in Old Town Alexandria and is on the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

Here are the holiday openings and closings to know around Vienna:

Town of Vienna government offices: Closed on Monday, Feb. 17.

Fairfax County government offices: Closed on Feb. 17.

Fairfax County Public Schools: Schools are closed Feb. 17 for the holiday.

Community center: The Vienna Community Center will be open 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. with special open gym hours.

Courts: Fairfax County General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and Circuit Court will be closed on Feb. 17.

DMV: All Virginia DMV customer service centers, the DMV Direct call centers, and DMV social media customer service will be closed. Over 50 services are available online at https://www.dmv.virginia.gov.

Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector will run on a holiday weekday schedule. Routes that operate are 101, 109, 151, 152, 159, 161, 162, 171, 301, 305, 306, 308, 310, 321, 322, 334, 340, 341, 350, 351, 352, 353, 371, 401, 402, 423, 427, 462, 463, 467, 507, 552, 553, 557, 558, 559, 574, 605, 610, 615, 622, 625, 630, 642, 651, 660, 662, 671, 672, 703, 721, 803, 901, 921, 924, 937, 950, 951, 952, 954, 983, RIBS 1, RIBS 2, RIBS 3, RIBS 4 and RIBS 5.

Libraries: All Fairfax County Public Library locations will be closed on Feb. 17.

Metro: Metrorail will be open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Feb. 15, 7 a.m. to midnight on Feb. 16 and 5 a.m. to midnight on Feb. 17. On the Blue Line, trains run every 16 minutes between Franconia-Springfield and Greenbelt due to track work between Pentagon and Foggy Bottom. Shuttle buses replace trains between Pentagon and Foggy Bottom. Customers may transfer at L'Enfant Plaza to Orange or Silver lines to continue their trips to Downtown Largo or Foggy Bottom. On the Orange and Silver Lines, free shuttle buses replace trains between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon, and the Rosslyn and Courthouse stations are closed. Trains run every 12 minutes (daytime) and 15 minutes (evening) between Ashburn and Clarendon and every 15 minutes (all day) between Foggy Bottom and Downtown Largo. On the Red Line, trains single track at Silver Spring after 10 p.m. on Feb. 17. Normal service runs until 10 p.m. then trains run every 10 minutes. Normal service is planned on the Yellow and Green Lines.

Park authority: Most Fairfax County parks are open, except the Burke Lake marina, Clemyjontri carousel, Colvin Run Mill, Sully Historic Site and Green Spring Gardens Historic House.

Post offices: Closed on Feb. 17.

Recreation centers: All recreation centers in Fairfax County are open regular hours on Feb. 17.

Trash and recycling: The Town of Vienna will have regular collections. County collection customers will have regular collections during the week of Feb. 17. Private collection customers should check for any changes with their hauler.
