Update 9:30 p.m. Monday -- Monday night’s chances of severe thunderstorms have passed, but residents may see a repeat of Monday’s weather through much of this week. Expect sunny and warm mornings, hot mid-day temperatures and a chance of severe scattered thunderstorms through Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the City of Alexandria and surrounding areas.
The watch is in effect until 10 p.m.
Thunderstorms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail, according to the NWS.
The service has also issued a hazardous weather outlook for the city as well.
