Gunshots Incident Results In Arrest In West End Alexandria

Alexandria Police detained two people after hearing gunshots and charged one in the incident.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Police made an arrest in connection with a gunshots incident in the West End last Thursday.

Officers on foot patrol heard several gunshots in the area of the 5400 block of Holmes Run Parkway around 9:05 p.m. on July 29. The two officers located and detained two people, also recovering a gun. Other officers found shell casings and property damage to a nearby apartment building. No injuries were reported.

Based on an investigation, Alexandria Police allege one of the people detained had been responsible for the gunshots incident. Mauricio Urquilla Escobar, 18, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with throwing/shooting missiles into an occupied swelling, illegal discharge of a weapon, and drug possession with intent to distribute.
