HOV Lane Closures Scheduled Along I-395/95
Motorists should expect major delays as VDOT continues working on 95 Express Lanes project.

Closures are scheduled along the I-395/95 High Occupancy Vehicle lanes as part of the 95 Express Lanes project this Friday, Aug. 9 through Sunday, Aug. 11. The Virginia Department of Transportation says motorists should expect delays.
The following closure schedule will be in effect:
Friday, Aug. 9, by 11 p.m.: Entire HOV lane facility closed from Washington, D.C. to Dumfries (Route 234).
Saturday, Aug. 10, by 8 a.m.:

• HOV lanes open to southbound traffic from Washington, D.C. to the Edsall Road exit where all motorists must exit the HOV lanes and merge onto the I-395/95 south lanes.
• HOV lanes closed between Edsall Road and Exit 161, U.S. Route 1.

• Southbound 95 motorists may reenter the HOV lanes just south of Route 1 exit via a new, dedicated temporary left-lane slip ramp, which will be open only on Saturday mornings during construction. A map is available here.
Saturday, Aug. 10 by 2 p.m.: HOV lanes closed for reversal operations.
Saturday, Aug. 10 by 4 p.m.: HOV lanes open northbound from Dumfries (Route 234) to Washington, D.C.
Saturday, Aug. 10 by 11 p.m.: HOV lanes closed from Dumfries (Route 234) to Washington, D.C.
Sunday, Aug. 12, by 10 a.m.: HOV lanes open to northbound traffic.
