Teen On Scooter Dies In Alexandria Crash: Police

A teen on a scooter sustained life-threatening injuries from a crash and later died, according to Alexandria Police.

UPDATE: Alexandria Police confirmed the teen in the scooter crash has died. A GoFundMe fundraiser for the family raised over $23,000 and is now closed.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A teen riding a scooter was injured in a crash in West End Alexandria Saturday, according to Alexandria Police.

The crash happened around 10:17 p.m. Saturday at North Beauregard Street and Sanger Avenue. Police say the 16-year-old scooter rider was turning left from southbound North Beauregard Street onto Sanger Avenue when a northbound black Toyota RAV-4 struck him.

The teen was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries in critical condition. The driver of the Toyota RAV-4 remained on the scene. Police have not announced any charges.
