Woodbridge Man With Gun Abducts Girl, Exposes Himself

Police say a minor got into an unknown man's vehicle and was the victim of an indecent exposure.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A minor girl was picked up by a man who exposed himself last Thursday in Woodbridge, according to Prince William County Police.

The abduction happened around 5 p.m. on Oct. 16 in the 13300 block of Minnieville Road. Police say the victim, aged under 15, was walking in the area and accepted a ride from an unknown man. The man drove to a parking lot off Caton Hill Road, displayed a gun and exposed himself to the girl.

The victim escaped the vehicle and got to a nearby business, where employees helped contact police. The victim had no reported injuries.

Detectives identified the suspect during the investigation and arrested him the next day. Asim Shafiq, 24, of Woodbridge, was charged with one count of abduction with intent to defile, three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, and one count of using a firearm in commission of a felony. He was held without bond.
