Another Jackpot Record Set At Gaming Resort In Prince William County
Another record jackpot was awarded at the gaming resort four days after the record was broken.

DUMFRIES, VA — While Powerball fever is underway across the nation, local gamers are winning jackpots at Prince William County's gaming resort.
After a record $226,581 jackpot win was reported on Aug. 26 at The Rose Gaming Resort in Dumfries, another record has been set. On Aug. 30, the gaming resort said a winner scored a $238,000 jackpot on a $1.50 wager.
The Rose, a $460 million destination gaming resort, opened in November 2024. It is not technically a casino and does not have game tables and traditional slot machines. Instead, the resort has historical horse racing games that appear like traditional slot machines. Casinos are only permitted in specific places as determined by Virginia law, and those do not include the Town of Dumfries and Prince William County.

Other features of the resort are eight bars and restaurants, a hotel, and meeting and event space. The resort is run by Colonial Downs Group, a Virginia subsidiary of Churchill Downs Incorporated that is best known for running the Kentucky Derby. Colonial Downs Group recently announced Rosie’s Gaming Emporium, a smaller gaming location in the Triangle Plaza Shopping Center in the Town of Dumfries, would shut down on Aug. 20.
