Chinn Park Library To Have Extended Closure For Renovations
One of the Prince William Public Libraries locations is getting renovations, including a makerspace and small business resources.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — One of the greater Woodbridge area's libraries will have an extended closure for renovations later in November.
Chinn Park Library (13065 Chinn Park Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22192) will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and is not expected to reopen until summer 2026. Prince William Public Libraries cited a renovation project to provide new spaces for small business and entrepreneur resources in collaboration with the Prince William County Department of Economic Development and Tourism.
The library's new floor plan will provide three small study rooms, a quiet study room, and an enhanced space for Chinn Park Library's Management and Government Information Center, a specialized service for business owners and nonprofits. The library's new small business resource center will provide a physical location for the Prince William County Department of Economic Development and Tourism's small business programs.

Another highlight of the renovated library will be a makerspace, which provides equipment and technology for businesses and other library patrons to create items. This will be Prince William Public Libraries' third makerspace, joining locations at the Bull Run and Central Libraries. Some of the features at the current makerspaces are 3D printers, Cricut machines, heat presses and arts and craft supplies.
During Chinn Park Library's closure, a small temporary library will open on Jan. 20, 2026 in the Administrative Support Center's Trustee Conference Room on the lower level of Chinn Park Library. The temporary library space will be open during renovations on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing access to the library’s collection, computers, Wi-Fi and other services.

"We're committed to providing access to our libraries, even while enhancing our spaces," said Jennifer Patterson, the Prince William Public Libraries director. "The short-term solution of having a smaller library space available during the renovation ensures the public can still browse for new books, research job opportunities on our computers, and enjoy our inviting spaces."
Holds will be available for pickup at Chinn Park Library through Nov. 23. After that, holds will move to Lake Ridge Library from Nov. 24 to Jan. 18. On Jan. 20, holds will be available in Chinn Park Library's temporary library on weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The book drop will be closed starting on Nov. 26. Books may be dropped off at the 11 other Prince William Public Libraries locations and three off-site book drops.
