Crisis Receiving Center To Open In Prince William County In October
A crisis receiving center to reduce reliance on emergency rooms and law enforcement for behavioral health patients is set to open.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — A center to better respond to behavioral health needs in Prince William County will have its grand opening in October.
The Crisis Receiving Center at 14011 Worth Avenue in Woodbridge will open on Thursday, Oct. 9. A community day and tours will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tours will begin every hour during the event. Registration is free, but RSVPs are encouraged. A ribbon cutting will be held earlier in the day with Prince William County officials.
According to the county, the complex will provide 24/7 behavioral health crisis care regardless of insurance or ability to pay and provide transitions to ongoing care. The county is designed for those seeking help voluntarily or facing a temporary detention order for people in crisis.

The county contracted Connections Health Solutions to operate the facility. The new complex includes a regional crisis receiving center with separate treatment spaces for adults and youth ages 12 and up. Outpatient and community-based behavioral health services for residents of greater Prince William County are co-located in the facility.
The new facility will reduce dependence on emergency rooms and jail for behavioral health incidents. While Prince William County has used mobile crisis teams for years, there has not been a facility for on-site intensive mental health services. That has resulted in higher out-of-area placements for temporary detention orders for Prince William County, overburdened emergency rooms, and overreliance on law enforcement.
