DALE CITY, VA — The man prosecuted in the quadruple homicide at a Dale City home will face life behind bars, according to the Prince William County Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney.

On Thursday, a judge in Prince William County court sentenced David Nathaniel Maine, 27, to six life sentences and 53 additional years. Three of the victims were relatives of Maine's ex-boyfriend — Miguel Duran Flores, 44, Kelly Victoria Sotelo, 42, Karrie Ayline Sotelo, 19 — plus a basement renter, Richard Julio Jesus Revollar Corrales, 36. Flores and Kelly Sotelo had just gotten married not long before the Oct. 17, 2022 homicides.

"This is a just outcome to one of the most horrific crimes in Prince William County history," said Commonwealth's Attorney Amy Ashworth in a statement. "In one day, four innocent lives were brutally ended in an act of unprovoked malice. It is a comfort to know that David Maine will never again be free."

On Oct. 17, 2022, police had responded to the home in the 5200 block of Mansfield Court for a mass shooting report. Police encountered Maine, who claimed another person had entered the room and shot the people inside. However, police investigation found Maine sexually assaulted and killed Karrie Sotelo and fatally shot Corrales. Karrie Sotelo's body was found rolled up in a blanket with a fatal stab wound in her neck.

When Kelly Sotelo and Flores arrived home, Maine fatally shot Flores. Kelly's 13-year-old daughter ran out of the house as Kelly screamed "David, no!" according to prosecutors. Kelly Sotelo was later found fatally shot in the home.

Miguel Duran Flores and Kelly Victoria Sotelo were recently married and lived in the home with Kelly's three children, plus the renters — Maine and Corrales. As previously reported by the Prince William Times, Kelly's son, Jimmy Inga, who was Maine's former boyfriend, lived in the home but was not present during the killings.

In the weeks before the homicide, the son had given Maine a deadline to move out after Maine had punched a hole in the wall, according to the report. The media report said Maine also had made racist remarks, had guns in the home and made threats following the text about moving out.

Police investigators found two guns, an AR-15 rifle and .22 caliber handgun, the latter of which was found to be used in the fatal shootings. DNA testing and analysis confirmed that Maine had raped Karrie Sotelo.

The investigation uncovered a note on Maine's computer saying "I should not have killed them" and that he hoped to die in his sleep. Prosecutors say he told police, "crazy thing is, I thought I was going to feel something."

"Our hearts go out to the numerous friends and family members of the victims of this terrible crime, as they also face a lifetime of pain at the loss of their loved ones," said Ashworth.
