Domestic Abusers Who Strangled Women Sentenced In 2 Cases
In one of the domestic violence incidents, the victim was strangled until she became unconscious, prosecutors say.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Two men have been sentenced to prison in connection with domestic violence inflicted on their girlfriends, according to the Prince William County Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney.
Ta’Equan Hill, 29, was sentenced for a November 2024 domestic violence incident. On Oct. 23, Hill pleaded guilty to strangulation, domestic assault and battery, and damaging a telephone to prevent summoning law enforcement. A judge sentenced Hill to the maximum seven years in prison, followed by three years of supervision.
On Nov. 6, 2024, Prince William County Police found an upset woman in the parking lot of Dick’s Sporting Goods in Manassas. The woman said she was assaulted by Hill, her boyfriend, at his cousin's house.

According to prosecutors, Hill and the victim argued before Hill, who was drunk and agitated, pushed her and ripped her clothes. When she tried to call police, Hill took her phone and strangled her, making her unable to breathe. Hill's cousin intervened to stop the attack.
The victim escaped, but prosecutors say Hill followed her in a vehicle. Authorities said Hill had been previously convicted in relation to a 2019 domestic violence incident with another female victim.

The other sentence was for Zachary Agee, 30. On July 3, Agee pleaded guilty to two counts of malicious wounding, strangulation, and threats in writing. A judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervision, which was above the sentencing guidelines.
On May 2, 2021, officers responded to a Prince William County residence for a report of past domestic abuse. The woman reported that Agee repeatedly assaulted her on April 14, 2021, and April 27, 2021. Agee was the victim's boyfriend and father of their three minor children.
In one incident, prosecutors say Agee strangled the victim until she was unconscious.
Officers observed extensive bruising, which the victim reported was from Agee punching and kicking her. Prosecutors say Agee also sent hundreds of threatening text messages detailing harm he wanted to inflict on the victim. Agee was arrested in Bedford County in April 2025 after more than two years of outstanding arrest warrants.
"Domestic violence is one of the leading causes of homicide across the nation," said Commonwealth's Attorney Amy Ashworth in a statement. "A recent study has shown that victims of strangulation are more than 750 times more likely to become victims of either attempted or completed homicides. My office takes domestic violence cases very seriously and will vigorously pursue justice for victims."
