DUMFRIES, VA—A man wanted for a hit-and-run Feb. 21 that ultimately led to the death of Gregory D. Sawyer, 62, of Dumfries, was arrested Friday, April 19, at his residence but not before trying to flee out the back door, according to Prince William County Police. Yohance Andrew Trim, 33, of the 3600 block of Masthead Trail in Triangle, was charged with felony hit and run.

Police received a tip in early April that wound up leading them to Trim. When they arrived to arrest him and execute a search warrant, Trim bolted for the back door but officers stopped him before he could make his getaway.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 in Dumfries, police responded to the hit-and-run scene and found that a vehicle was making a right turn from eastbound Graham Park Road onto southbound Old Triangle Road when it hit Sawyer, who was crossing the road. The vehicle stopped briefly before continuing south on Old Triangle Road.
