WOODBRIDGE, VA—A man was arrested Thursday, April 25, after strangling a woman until she passed out at a home in the 11100 block of Wortham Crest, according to Prince William County Police. Lafonta Elmore King, Jr., 27, of the 2200 block of Accomac Street in Richmond, was charged with one count of abduction, one count of strangulation and two counts of domestic assault and battery.

Around 4:30 p.m., police arrived at the scene for a reported domestic incident. A 25-year-old woman said she and King—an acquaintance—were involved in an argument that escalated. When she tried to leave the residence, he grabbed her and pulled her back inside. He then strangled her to the point at which she lost consciousness, and then struck her in the arms and legs.

The assault continued outside the residence until neighbors intervened, separated the two and contacted police. King was arrested and held without bond.
