The new Connections Prince William Crisis Receiving Center at 14011 Worth Avenue in Woodbridge will serve people seeking help voluntarily or facing a temporary detention order for people in crisis. While Prince William County has used mobile crisis teams for years, there has not been a facility for on-site intensive mental health services. That has resulted in higher out-of-area placements for temporary detention orders for Prince William County, overburdened emergency rooms, and overreliance on law enforcement. According to the county, the facility will improve the county's behavioral health system with timely care to reduce the reliance on emergency rooms and law enforcement for mental health and substance use incidents.

The facility will provide 24/7 care for adults and youth in need. Walk-in urgent care, short-term observation using the 23-hour observation model and extended stabilization services will be offered. The Crisis Receiving Center is being led by Connections Health Solutions, which has set up other crisis response centers and mobile crisis units around the U.S. It has another Northern Virginia location in Chantilly.
