Officers Assaulted After Hit-And-Run In Woodbridge: Police
A man was arrested after fleeing from a hit-and-run scene and then later assaulting two officers at a home in Woodbridge, say PWC Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—A man was arrested Tuesday after fleeing from a hit-and-run scene and later assaulting two officers at a home in the 11000 block of Mente Road, according to Prince William County Police.
David Joel Rivera, 24, of the aforementioned address, was charged with two counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, along with one count of hit and run with property damage, possession of a schedule I or II narcotic, driving under the influence, unreasonable refusal and obstruction of justice.
Shortly after 6:45 p.m., police responded to the area of Benita Fitzgerald Drive and Cloverdale Road for a reported hit-and-run-incident. They found that a woman stopped at a red light on Dale Boulevard was rear-ended by a grey car that left the scene headed west on Dale Boulevard. A piece of the car was left at the scene, and police used it to identify the vehicle's owner.

When police arrived at the owner's address, they encountered Rivera, who appeared to be intoxicated. When they tried to detain him, he refused to comply with their commands. A struggle then ensued, during which Rivera struck one officer in the chest and another in the upper body, causing minor injuries.
He finally was subdued without further incident. Police found drugs on him during a search. Rivera suffered minor injuries but refused treatment, after which he was taken to jail.
