Pedestrian Killed in Interstate 95 Wreck Near Woodbridge

A tractor-trailer struck a man walking along the road after his car ran out of gas, according to Virginia State Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA -- A man died early Monday morning after he was struck by a tractor trailer while walking along Interstate 95, according to Virginia State Police. Two other pedestrians and the truck driver were not injured.

At 4:10 a.m., three men were heading south on Interstate 95 when their Honda CRV ran out of gas near Gordon Avenue. They called 9-1-1, according to police. Instead of paying for a wrecker, the men began walking on foot toward the nearest gas station.

Near exit 158B, about a half-mile from their car, one man was struck by the tractor trailer. He was transported to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, where he died later Monday morning. The man was identified as Isaac A. Salgado, 22.
