Potomac Nationals to Hold Mock Presidential Election

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Lower-level minor league baseball teams long have been know for unique and even outlandish promotional devices, but the Class A Potomac Nationals have come up with one that's relevant to a more important issue than, say, Squirt Gun Night.

Nope, this one's a mock presidential election scheduled for Sept. 3 at Pfitzner Stadium, where the P-Nats will play host to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Participants will have to be of legal voting age, and polling begins at 5 p.m.

"We're expecting all eligible fans to vote, but what may be even more important is that the voters of Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C. and its suburbs will have an opportunity to be part of a polling event that may be the most meaningful indicator of what the results will be in the 2016 Presidential Election," Potomac Nationals Chairman/CEO, Art Silber said in a release.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to vote now before the actual Presidential Election for who you want to be our country's next President. Our Prince William County fans will vote in the same booths and with the same ballot that will be used in November."

The first 2,000 fans to vote will receive either a Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump bobblehead. Voting ends after the fifth inning, and participants will receive an "I Voted" sticker. Fans will be updated on the vote count throughout the evening, and the results will be announced on the field after the game.

The Washington Nationals, of course, are the parent club of the P-Nats.
