Texting While Driving Warning Issued: Prince William County Cops
Prince William County Police have issued a warning about texting while driving: They're proactively looking for drivers who do just that.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA—Although April is on its last legs, and "Distracted Driving Awareness Month" likewise will come to an end, Prince William County Police want you to know they're not going to lower their antennae when it comes to texting while driving. On Thursday, April 24, police issued a release that included the following:
Many people are not aware that texting whileThey add that drivers younger than 18 are prohibited from using cell phones while driving, regardless whether the device is hand-held. Police says texting while driving is of special concern because it combines all three types of distraction: visual, manual and cognitive.
driving is ILLEGAL and is a primary offense in
Virginia, meaning that a police officer can stop
you on that basis without any other traffic laws
being broken. A conviction for texting while
driving carries a $125 fine for the first offense, and
a $250 fine for second and subsequent offenses.
Bottom line from PWC Police: "Put down your phones and drive." If you don't, you'll be facing a hefty fine.
