Vehicle Involved In Hit-And-Run Crash Sought By Virginia State Police

State police said a trooper attempted to stop the driver for reckless driving before the crash.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — State police are asking for the public's help locating a car and driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Stafford and Prince William counties earlier this week.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday, Virginia State Police said a trooper attempted to stop a red Kia Forte for reckless driving on northbound Interstate 95 in Stafford County.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, according to police, and a pursuit ensued.

The chase continued into Prince William County, police said, before the car exited the interstate. The pursuit ended up on Cardinal Drive, where the suspect vehicle attempted a U-turn at Andover Heights Drive.

As the suspect vehicle was attempting the U-turn, police said it struck the pursuing Virginia State Police vehicle, rendering it inoperable.

The trooper in the pursuing vehicle was not injured, police said.

The Kia Forte had a Virginia license plate number of TMG 2420. It should have damage to the driver's side rear door.
