What's Open, Closed For Thanksgiving 2025 In Woodbridge

The Thanksgiving holiday will prompt closures around Woodbridge, and some will continue into Friday and the weekend.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Thanksgiving Day falls on Thursday, Nov. 27 this year, bringing a holiday break for students and employees.

Government offices, schools and some businesses will close for the holiday observance. Many government offices and services will also be closed on Friday, Nov. 28 for Black Friday, making it a four-day weekend.

Here are all the openings and closings to know around Woodbridge and Prince William County for Thanksgiving on Nov. 27 and Black Friday on Nov. 28.

Prince William County government offices: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28.

Prince William County Public Schools: PWCS schools and offices are closed Nov. 26 to 28.

Courts: Prince William County courts will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and remain closed Nov. 27 and 28.

DMV: Virginia DMV locations will be closed Nov. 27 to 29. Some services are online at dmv.virginia.gov.

Library: Prince William Public Libraries locations will close at 5 p.m. on Nov. 26 and remain closed through Nov. 30.

Metro: On Nov. 27, Metrorail will operate from 6 a.m. to midnight on a special reduced holiday service schedule at all stations. Metrobus will run on a Sunday schedule. All MetroAccess subscription trips will be canceled, but customers can make a separate reservation to travel on the holiday.

OmniRide: OmniRide bus services will not operate on Nov. 27, and Express service will not run on Nov. 28. Metro Express, Local and East-West Express plus OmniRide Connect and Access will run regularly on Nov. 28.

Parks and recreation: All parks and recreation buildings are closed on Nov. 27. On Nov. 28, Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center, Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center, Ben Lomond Historic Site, Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre and Rippon Lodge Historic Site are open. Birchdale Community Center, Hellwig Administration Building, Pat White Center at Ben Lomond and Veterans Memorial Park Community Center are closed on Nov. 28.

Post offices: Closed on Nov. 27.

Trash and recycling: The Prince William County landfill is closed on Nov. 27. For private trash collection services schedule changes, contact your hauler.

Virginia ABC: Virginia ABC stores will be closed on Nov. 27 and reopen for regular service on Nov. 28. Stores will open early at 8 a.m. on Nov. 28 and close at regular times.

Virginia Railway Express: There will be no VRE service on Nov. 27 and 28. Regular service will resume on Dec. 1.
