Credit Card Theft To Buy Gun Leads To Woodbridge Resident's Sentence
Prosecutors say the defendant tried to buy additional guns using credit card information without the victim's consent.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — An Italian citizen living in Woodbridge was sentenced in a case involving a credit card theft to buy a gun, federal prosecutors say.
According to court documents, Wilford Amoako Osei, 23, bought a gun online for $1,249 using a victim's name and credit card number without their permission on June 2, 2024. The victim's card was later reported lost or stolen. Osei had received the gun from a federally licensed gun dealer in Woodbridge on June 24, 2024.
Prosecutors say there were six more cases of Osei attempting to buy guns online using names and credit cards of other victims without their consent. The attempted orders were blocked, cancelled or not fulfilled.

Osei was sentenced to two years in prison on a charge of aggravated identity theft.
