Boat Wedged Under 520 Caused Backups

A boat is wedged under the State Route 520 eastbound bridge just east of Lake Washington Boulevard, according to local law enforcement and the Washington Department of Transportation.

A boat was wedged under the State Route 520 eastbound bridge just east of Lake Washington Boulevard (milepost 2), according to local law enforcement and the Washington Department of Transportation.

The incident caused at least one lane of eastbound 520 to be closed between 8:30 and 11 p.m., as rescuers with Seattle Harbor Patrol responded to the incident. According to the Seattle Times, a man was trapped inside the boat when it got stuck under the bridge and he and a woman were taken to nearby University of Washington Medical Center for non-lifethreatening injuries.

The Washington Department of Transportation also had a planned to test the tolling equipment. Another closure is planned for the westbound direction Tuesday night.
